Women's Ministry

Our desire is to glorify God by striving to meet the needs of women in our church and in our community.  We are the arms of Jesus, embracing women in their world so that they will live more fully for Him.

Since spiritual growth is our priority, we present opportunities for you to be an active participant in Sunday School, Bible studies, and other teaching and training opportunities.  We encourage you to check out the options below to find something that fits for you.

Women's Bible Studies

Throughout the year, our ladies gather for fellowship, prayer and accountability in the Word. Each September our Wednesday morning and evening Bible studies begin, though over the summer we also have a study as well as weekly prayer groups.  Many studies are offered each year, recently ranging from a Precept study of Nehemiah to a study of Future Grace. Quality childcare is offered for morning studies at a nominal cost.  See the bottom of this page for a list of studies currently being offered.

Events

You were created for more than a party -- but it sure does make the journey even more fun!  The CEFC Women's Committee loves to party with a purpose: it's our desire to provide not only enjoyable social events for the women of our church (and creative outlets for our planners), but first and foremost we desire to spur all of our women in their own walk of faith.

As we plan our Parties with a Purpose, our goals are to provide you with fellowship opportunities to catch up with your sisters at CEFC, a comfortable environment for you to practice hospitality as you invite friends with whom you desire to share your faith and the love and warmth of our congregation, and the privilege of sharing in the support of your sisters through women's ministry so they are able to attend Bible studies or the spring retreat.

Our purposes are many.  Our goal is singular, to bring honor and glory to our Heavenly Father. We'd love to have you join us - to help plan or to just Party with a Purpose.

Mercy and Encouragement

Our hope is that God will use us to shower his mercy into the lives of women who need help, comfort, or encouragement.  We love providing gift baskets to first time moms and meals to families during times of illness, transition or crisis.

“God’s Special Women” is our widows group that meets monthly for a time of prayer and Bible study.  These women use their experiences of widowhood to reach out to others who have recently been widowed.

Mom's Together

Three times a year our mothers meet for a morning designed to encourage and equip moms with children from birth through fifth grade.  Each event includes a hot breakfast, a presentation on a relevant topic, and the opportunity for discussion around tables, all in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.  At the same time, their young children are enjoying a special, quality, age-appropriate program with Bible stories, games, crafts and snacks.

Side by Side

A mentoring ministry that helps older and younger women develop and grow spiritually.  A six-month winter launch of a purposeful friendship of encouragement.

Upcoming Women's Events

Car Care: Single moms and widows: Saturday, February 10, is Car Care day. Our men’s car care team will change your oil and check your car’s other vital signs. A $5 donation is appreciated. Contact Clyde Harmes at 610.286.6705 or call Ginny in the church office at 610.286.6790 to sign up.

Moms Together: I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2

How do these beautiful words from Psalm 121 connect to the life of a mom with young children? We know God helps when we ask Him, but what do we ask for? During our next Moms Together breakfast, Shirley Kenney will think aloud about these questions and answer them from Scripture and personal examples and will offer a few practical suggestions. Sign up online or in the foyer.

CHOOSING GRATITUDE

A lighter study option for busy ladies of any age. A relevant topical book study that we take a chapter at a time. This winter we'll focus our hearts on gratitude with Nancy Leigh DeMoss' book, Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey to Joy. "Gratitude is a choice. If we fail to choose it, by default we choose ingratitude. And once allowed into the heart, ingratitude does not come by itself, but with other seedy companions that only succeed in stealing joy." Join us as we choose to be thankful.

Sunday Morning

WOMEN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS

The women's SS class will finish the book by Jen Wilkin called None Like Him.

On January 7, the class will begin to study Lauren Chandler's book on Psalm 107, Steadfast Love. "The beauty of Psalm 107 is that it speaks to seasons of our lives in which we have all found ourselves. It is an invitation to self-examination balanced by God-exaltation. Come join us as we hear the good news that no matter the season, no matter if we're hungry and thirsty, heavy-hearted, entangled in sin, or weathering a storm, God is the Lord of steadfast love, the anchor of our souls."

A Note About Childcare

Knowing that it is nearly impossible to study the Bible with a room full of children, we offer childcare services during the morning study hours for preschool-aged children. Mothers are asked to please sign their children up ahead of time by calling their study leader; this will enable us to have an adequate number of sitters to safely accommodate the number of children entrusted to our care. You are asked to pay a weekly fee of $3 for the first child, and $1 for each additional child to help cover expenses. If you prefer, you can arrange to leave your own child(ren) at home with your own sitter. Thank you in advance for not bringing your child(ren) to your class.
