Our ministry exists to encourage men in their walk with the Lord and challenge and equip them to fulfill their God-given responsibilities. The men of CEFC want to actively seek God in every way: worship, activities, thought, behavior, character, study, companionship, and so on! Here are a few of the many ways we make this happen.
Sunday Men’s Class
The Men’s class meets at Doug Mountz’s home (57 East Main Street, Elverson) Sundays at 9 AM. Our topics vary (see the adult Sunday class page for current details), but we’re always digging in the Bible, finding its relevence for us as men, Christians, husbands, and fathers. We also pray for and get to know one another. Call Doug Mountz or Mike Rudolf for details.
Mentoring Availability
Several of the men on the Men’s Ministry Team are available for mentoring, training, encouraging, and holding one another accountable on a regular basis. Whether it concerns personal or family devotions, a persistent sin, or the need for a prayer partner, those interested should contact Gus Franceschi or Mike Rudolf.
Men’s Breakfasts
We feed hungry men well, both physically and spiritually. Two or three times a year we meet for breakfast, fellowship and a short devotional. Watch for more details in the bulletin, or call Gus Franceschi.
Annual Retreat
Our 2009 retreat was on February 6-8 at Black Rock Retreat in Lancaster County. Once again, the Lord proved his faithfulness to our men. The new location was a big hit. There was more time for fellowship, great food, the music & worship were spiritual and the tournaments fun and competitive. We also learned a lot about dealing with our sin and how to resist temptation so we can live a more pleasing life before God. Feeling bad about missing it? Pencil in February 5-7 in 2010 and plan to join us next year. Click here to download some of the PowerPoint presentations or outlines from this year's talks by Mike Culbert, Jim McGuire and Gregg Vermeesch to get the gist of the weekend. Praise God for the success and for what we learned!
Men’s Activities
Enjoy getting together with other men just for recreation? Whether it’s a heart-stopping game of Risk, a heart-pumping game of basketball, or bike riding on Saturday morning (for 20 miles), we like doing stuff together. Got an activity in mind? Or want to be a part of something? Contact Larry Kenney or Mike Rudolf with your ideas, and watch the bulletin for details.
Discussion Groups
As we try to be godly husbands, fathers, and salt in our culture, it helps to bounce ideas around. Our quarterly discussion groups give you opportunities to talk with other men about challenging issues. Contact Larry Kenney.
Future Men
As we follow hard after Christ, we include our boys. We encourage young men to come with their dads to the men’s retreat, and for dads to bring the young men in their families to the men’s breakfasts (about age 5 and up). We want our sons to see that their dads take spiritual issues seriously and are dedicated to leading their families in a godly way.
Sunday evenings provide another excellent opportunity to invest in boys’ lives. Our Christian Service Brigade program for boys in grades 1-6 provides quality time for learning, games, projects, and interaction. Any man, dad or not, and any boy, whether or not he has a dad at home, are a part of our greater family. This group also goes on mini retreats. Contact Arden Musselman for further information on Sunday night activities.
Service
We in Men’s Ministry believe that every Christian should be using his spiritual gifts toward the building up of the body of Christ. To that end we encourage men at CEFC to choose a ministry in the church and commit to regular service. If you need help finding a ministry that matches your gifts and interests, please contact a team member.
